The FINAL Product
So, this is the final product! FINALLY. The decorating took up my entire Saturday, which was about 8 hours (*sigh*). But, it was worth it because I love the way it turned out! It probably would have taken me much less time if I didn't have to stop, dump out the glaze in the Precision Applicator, clean the applicator, put new glaze in it, and then start again. After I decorated it, I bisque-fired the form. After it was bisque-fired, I put a good coat of clear glaze on it, then put it in the high-fire kiln. The above picture is the form after everything. Funny story, I didn't have a Christmas gift for my aunt, so I gave this to her (she loved it).
Final Thoughts
I had both success and failure when making this form. To begin, here is what I feel succeeded when making the form:
I almost wish I would have made a series so I could have kept the piece. But then again, that would take up so much time and I like my Saturday's to be free.
Well, Mr. Russian Ceramicist, if you ever see this (I don't know if you ever would) I would like to thank you for giving me an A on my midterm
- The precision applicator worked with the medium I used to decorate (underglaze)
- I was able to make the design that I wanted (I went for drippy and colorful, so check)
- The underglaze didn't come out of the applicator how I wanted which caused me to use more glaze that I wanted. This resulted in a pool at the bottom of the form.
